Fun Facts About This Species
Appaloosa Mini Horses are specifically bred for their color and have distinctive spots. A full grown mini horse weighs anywhere from 150 to 250 pounds. A newborn mini horse only weighs 20 pounds and only stand between 16 and 20 inches tall. You can even pick them up and carry them around like a little puppy!

Mini horses can sometimes be confused with ponies. The main difference is that mini horses are specifically bred to be exactly like a full-sized horse, just tiny. Whereas ponies tend to have short legs, thick necks and big bellies.

Mini horses were used to help in coal mines for many years. They were used in United States coal mines as recently as the 1950s.  There was also a time when mini horses were also a common pet for European royalty.
